Detroiters deserve clean air, safe water and healthy neighborhoods.
Detroit’s resurgence is an opportunity to build a vibrant urban center where everyone thrives in social, economic, and environmental health. Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice makes Detroit and Michigan cleaner and safer.
WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE?
Communities of color are disproportionately exposed to polluted air, water, and soil. The most polluted zip code in Michigan, for example, is 84 percent black. Many communities of color that encounter toxic work conditions, environmental hazards, or polluted neighborhoods are also poor. Environmental justice shines a spotlight on the role that race and economics play in pollution.
Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice believes all Detroiters can thrive in a clean and healthy city.
