WHY WE DO IT

Environmental health disparities are produced and maintained because populations of color and low income communities are more likely to have greater exposure to air pollution, water pollution, dilapidated housing, low-quality infrastructure, blight and decay, and locally unwanted land uses which result in adverse health outcomes such as asthma, lead poisoning and cardiovascular disease.

OUR ISSUE

Detroit is home to five of the top 25 most polluted zip codes in the state, including 48217 at #1.

Detroit has the highest rates of asthma, lead poisoning and cardiovascular disease in Michigan.

Detroiters pay two times more of their household income on energy than other Michigan residents.
